Phonological Disorder

Some children use simplifications of the adult model of speech sounds while they are learning to speak. An example of this may be when a [k] sound is substituted by a [t] (known as fronting) e.g. “tow” for cow. By the age of 3 years these substitutions should start to diminish and be replaced by the correct method and place of articulation. Some sounds may take longer develop e.g. substituting a [w] for a [r]. If you are concerned about your child speech, please contact me for more specific advice in this matter.
